KYC update or compliance review at a Thai bank
The bank asks you to update your passport, visa or address, to come to the branch or to explain how you use the account, and limits the account until you do. Often it’s a routine review that can be closed with the right documents. Sometimes the problem is the visa itself, and then we tell you honestly what is realistic.

Why a bank starts a KYC review
KYC means “know your customer”. In recent years Thai banks have been checking foreign customers more strictly.
New passport or visa
Your passport or visa in the bank’s records has expired, or you got a new one.
Change of status
Your work permit ended, you changed jobs or switched to another type of visa.
Out-of-date details
Your address, phone number or occupation in the bank’s records no longer match.
Regular review
The bank asks you to fill in a new form: your work, income and what you use the account for.
No long-term visa
You stay on a visa exemption stamp or a tourist visa. Some banks restrict accounts of such customers.
Questions about transfers
The bank also asks where the money came from. Then it is a source of funds case.
Source of funds →Documents the bank usually asks for
- Passport with all visa pages and stamps
- Current visa or extension, and work permit if you have one
- Proof of address: rental contract, house registration or a condo title deed
- A Thai phone number in your name
- Your bank book
- Proof of income or of what the account is used for
- The bank’s KYC form in Thai. We fill it in with you
Please don’t send passport or account numbers through the website form. We will tell you how to send documents safely.
What we can’t promise
- The bank makes the final decision. Nobody can honestly guarantee it.
- Without a long-term visa, unblocking an old account works in some cases and not in others. We say this before you pay.
- The bank may still close the account after the review.
- We don’t arrange visas through shortcuts. For visas, see UnblockPro.Asia ↗
How we close a KYC review
Ask the bank
We call or visit the branch and find out in Thai what exactly the bank wants and why the account is limited.
Check for police cases
If the reason is unclear, we check with the cyber police that there is no police case behind the restriction.
Documents and forms
We prepare the documents, translations and the bank’s forms in Thai, so nothing is missing at the counter.
Branch visit and follow-up
We go with you to the branch, speak Thai for you and follow up for up to 30 days within your package.
Similar cases
Real cases, anonymized. Every case is different, and past results are examples, not a promise.
Bangkok Bank · Phuket
Blocked without a long-term visa
The client owns a condo in Phuket, comes once a year on a visa exemption stamp and receives rent into the account. It was blocked in 2024 without any reason given. We checked with the cyber police: there was no police case. The bank had restricted the account because of the visa. A free consultation and a document list were enough for her to go on alone.
- Outcome
- Free consultation
- Timeline
- 1 meeting
- Action
- Cyber police check, document list
- Client
- Russian-speaking condo owner
KBank → Krungsri · Student visa
New Krungsri account on a student visa
The client’s old account still worked, but card withdrawals were capped. With his visa and school, only one more bank was realistic. His school’s documents were not accepted at first, so he moved to a school that banks accept, and we opened the new account with him.
- Outcome
- New account opened
- Timeline
- Several bank visits
- Action
- Bank choice, documents, interpreting
- Client
- Russian-speaking student
Bangkok Bank · Pattaya
The bank’s own review
The client exchanged large amounts every week through a licensed Thai crypto exchange. The bank restricted the account itself and sent the case to the cyber police. We gave a statement there, got the release document and proved the source of funds at the bank.
- Outcome
- Account unblocked
- Timeline
- Our work: 3 days · bank: about 7 working days
- Action
- Cyber police, source of funds
- Client
- Russian-speaking client
