Source of funds request from a Thai bank

The bank wants to know where the money on your account came from: a large or foreign transfer, regular crypto exchanges or income it can’t see. Until it gets a clear answer with documents, the account can stay restricted. We prepare the explanation and the evidence in Thai and take them to the bank with you.

What the bank usually wants to know

One clear, consistent story, backed by documents. Different answers at different times make it harder.

Where the money came from

Salary, pension, business income, a sale of property or a car, rental income or savings.

How it reached Thailand

A bank transfer, a money exchange, a licensed crypto exchange or a P2P trade, and why this way.

Proof that it is yours

Contracts, payslips, pension or tax documents, statements from your home bank.

Crypto exchanges

Statements and trade history from the exchange, and how the crypto was bought in the first place.

P2P trades

Who you traded with, screenshots and chats, and why you used P2P. If transfers from your country are limited, the bank needs to understand how you moved your own money.

Your life in Thailand

Your visa, work, where you live and what the account is used for.

Documents that usually help

  • Passport and visa
  • Statements from your Thai bank and your home bank
  • Proof of income: payslips, pension statements, tax returns
  • Contracts: sale of property or a car, rental agreements
  • Exchange statements and trade history
  • P2P screenshots and chats with the other side
  • An explanation letter in Thai. We prepare it

Please don’t send passport or account numbers through the website form. We will tell you how to send documents safely.

What makes it harder

  • Different explanations to the bank at different times.
  • Documents that don’t match the amounts or the dates.
  • Money sent through other people’s accounts.
  • P2P trades with people you can’t identify.
  • Ignoring the bank’s request for weeks.

How we answer a source of funds request

Step 1

Find the questioned transfers

We find out from the bank which transfers it questions and whether it has passed the case to the cyber police.

Step 2

Collect the evidence

You get a short checklist. We review what you send and point out what doesn’t match before the bank sees it.

Step 3

Letter in Thai

We write one clear explanation letter in Thai and translate the key documents.

Step 4

Bank meeting and follow-up

We go with you to the bank, answer its questions in Thai and follow up for up to 30 days within your package.

Questions about source of funds

What counts as proof of source of funds?
Documents that link the money to a legal source: payslips, pension or tax documents, sale or rental contracts, statements from your home bank or from the exchange. Foreign documents usually need a translation.
My money came from crypto. Can I still prove it?
Often yes. Exchange statements, trade history and P2P screenshots show where the money came from. In one of our cases, a client exchanged crypto every week through a licensed Thai exchange. Our work took 3 working days, and the bank lifted the restriction about 7 working days later.
The crypto exchange also blocked my account. What then?
An exchange may ask for a police document that names it specifically. In one of our cases the exchange rejected the first letter for this reason, and we contacted the officer to get the right document.
Do I need certified translations?
Sometimes. It depends on the bank and the document. Standard and higher packages include translation of key documents. Certified translations are priced separately, from 3,190 THB per page.
Can I answer the bank myself?
Yes, if the request is simple. In the free case check we tell you what to prepare, and sometimes that is enough.
How long after we submit the documents?
In our recent cases, the bank lifted the restriction from a few days to about 7 working days after it accepted the documents. If the bank passed the case to the police, that step comes first.
Is this legal?
Yes. We work only through official procedures with the bank and the police. We are a registered Thai company, not a law firm. We don’t take cases involving illegal funds or sanctions evasion.
Not sure it’s a source of funds case?
